What not to eat before a run

I have made of list of things I need to remember not to eat before I go on a run. Why these things? Because it is no fun burping and tasting the following food items when I am running, in my opinion.

  1. Peanut butter
  2. Bacon
  3. Anything with onions
  4. Chili (I made the BEST homemade chili, but it was a stupid choice to eat it before a run.)
  5. Tuna. I eat my tuna with lime juice and Sriracha. Spicy burning burps suck.

Short list, but those are all the things I’ve eaten so far that I will not eat again before a run.

Today is another beautiful day in Sacramento. I ran the furthest distance since the CIM today! Yay me! Still not very far, and I would have gone further today but I had to pee really bad. Damn bladder.

I found this great picture on Pinterest (loooove you Pinterest!) This is soooo me! 🙂 Like I’ve said before though, I love running & races because they are always for a great cause. My next race is just under a month, but it can’t come soon enough. I need to race!


On another note, if you’ve read my blog you know I love animals. This is  my dog (our family dog) Chewy. We’ve had her for 11 years and love her so much! She is having surgery today to remove a tumor. It has been biopsied before and luckily it is a type of cancer that is usually only locally invasive and she should do well after surgery. Please think positive, good thoughts for her. She really is a special dog.

I wonder if they’re runners

Such a beautiful day today! If you have a chance, get outside & do something! (Well at least if you’re in Sacramento, Ca). I have been getting over a sickness, but I still went for a run today. It’s been almost a week since I’ve done any exercise. I’ve been itching to do something. Obviously, I decided to run – can’t pass up weather like this in winter. Plans were to run at least 6 miles today. I got to mile 2 and realized I should have worn shorts cause I was hot as fu**, then I was almost at mile 3 and realized this run is kicking my ass because I am still a little sick. Alright, I  know I’ve mentioned this in previous post (see F-you Pedestrian ) Surprisingly, I actually had most people stop for me today. A thought crossed my mind, “I wonder if the people who stop for me are runners?” It makes sense right? I know since I’ve started running I am more aware of runners, and pedestrians in general and I always make sure to stop for them. So, I’d like to say thank you to all the fellow runners (and nice non-runners) who stop like they are supposed to! 🙂

Do what makes you happy…it’s really that easy.

Happy 2013 all! I am not one to make resolutions. This year is no different. I do, however, set goals. This year:

  • Get stronger
  • Stay healthy
  • Stay injury free (continue to train properly & STRETCH)
  • Run the CIM again, and get a better time (MUCH better)

I think that is about it. My last goal I have been working on since last year. I am 28, soon to be 29 and realized I want to be happy & I am the only one that is going to make that happen. It really isn’t that hard. Happiness to me is living on my own in my cute little apartment, being with friends & family, doing what I want to do when I want to do it, running, working with animals, reading, eating…Lots of things make me happy. I decided to ramble on about these things since it is a new year. I want everyone to be happy, get along,  and be nice. It isn’t hard to do. With so much going on in the world these days sometimes we just have to stop and remember about the simple, little things in life that bring joy. There is a quote from one of my favorite movies that says, “The little things, there’s nothing bigger is there?” I really like that.

Okay, now running…I have been doing great on my weekly runs. I am pretty much back to my normal pace and have had no knee problems! 🙂 I recently discovered a new park near me and ran there the other day. Perfect loop that is just over a mile. Here is a link to my run:

Thanks so much 🙂 So there are a lot of things to do once you’re nominated, and seeing as how it’s almost been a month since I’ve posted anything I don’t really have time to do all that. But thank you for the nomination! It just makes my happy that people read and like my blog!

The Getty Owl Foundation raises money & awareness for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This is another reason I love doing runs, it feels really good to help raise money for so many good causes.
