Today was my long run for the week. I am on week 4 of 26 for my CIM training. I have to say I have been doing great! I also have to say it hasn’t been easy, especially today. 5am wake up calls are not something I enjoy, but I had to run 5 miles today and had 3 options:
1. Wake up at 5am to run
2. Run this afternoon when it will be 100+degrees
3. Run 5 miles at the gym on the treadmill
I figure option 1 was best. I also had a staff meeting at work this morning so if I don’t get to sleep in anyway I may as well get a run in!
I was pretty tired, then I was pretty sweaty…and tired. Difficult 5 miles today. Check out my course on Garmin Connect:
Oh crap, just realized…my first picture looks like grumpy cat. So NOT attractive! Eh, that’s what you get at 5am!
Nice thing about running that early is there is pretty much no traffic, and I get to take nice sunrise pictures
Last Saturday was a rest day but I felt like running, so I ran 10 miles (check that out too!! Marathon Training Long Run For Fun – 10 miles by haleymg at Garmin Connect – Details.) After the run my toe was a little sore. When I checked out my toe it was a red. Then I had a look at it yesterday and it is pretty bruised. Never happened before, but it doesn’t really hurt. Does this mean I’m a real runner now…or does it have to fall off to count? 😉
Maybe it will come off in 1 of the 2 races I have coming up this month. First is the Buffalo Chips July 4th 5 miler . This race is free, so obviously I’m going to take advantage of that! The next is the Davis MOONlight Race . If the weather that day is going to be anything like this week its not going to be fun, but I’ll finish. If I don’t pass out. You get a beer at the end, so that alone is worth it – as long as it’s not Coors or Budweiser.
Have a great week all! Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
